In 2022, five SMCs were established, with three being initiated by the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program of NDTV Convergence Limited, and the other two by the SRF Foundation. These SMCs were opened in the slums of Delhi, providing free access to education for 1,021 students. The centers offered a range of educational resources and opportunities, including study spaces, computer classes, online educational portals and a library with up-to-date materials. Regular extra classes in math, science, and English were also provided. To ensure that no girl in the slums was left without an education, the “हर लड़की पढ़ी लिखी ” campaign was launched. Teachers and volunteers went into the slums, identifying girls who were not studying. As a result, 117 girls who had either left their studies or were on the verge of leaving were enrolled in the program. To support the students and their families, regular counselling sessions were arranged twice a month for both children and parents. TVF observed significant improvements not only in the students but also in their parents, who gained a better understanding of how to help their children grow holistically. In the 2023 examinations, 456 students from the SMCs in grades 10 and 12 successfully passed, showcasing the positive impact of the SMCs on the students’ holistic development.

Having witnessed the positive impact of SMCs on the holistic development of children in the slums of Delhi, TVF is committed to establishing Four additional SMCs in 2024. These new SMCs will follow the same successful model implemented in 2022. With extensive volunteer support from various slums in Delhi, TVF is confident that these new SMCs will achieve the same level of success.

We intend to launch an Internship Programme (ITP) aimed at giving underprivileged students who have completed high school or a bachelor’s degree and possess proficiency in English, a head start in their careers.
ITP will assist underprivileged students from the slums to:
– Acquire knowledge about the diverse aspects of professionalism
– Gain valuable insights into the corporate world
– Build their confidence and improve their communication and interpersonal skills
– Develop a better understanding of the skills and competencies required to succeed in the workplace
– Gain exposure to different work cultures and environments
– Build a network of professional contacts and mentors
We invite organizations to support this initiative and become a part of this remarkable journey.

The Mentorship Programme (MTP) is a proposed initiative that aims to bridge the gap between professionals and underprivileged students. The programme will bring together experienced professionals as Mentors and underprivileged students as Mentees, providing the latter with an opportunity to learn about professionalism and the corporate world. Mentors and Mentees will be matched based on their interests and career goals.

It will help the mentees:
– To have access to experienced professionals who can guide and mentor them on their journey towards a successful career.
– To gain insights into the various intricacies of professionalism, including communication skills, time management, goal setting, and leadership.
– To get prepared for the corporate world by providing them with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in a professional environment.

We hope that this initiative will receive the necessary support to make a positive impact on the lives of underprivileged students.

Sports have always been a great way to engage students in their personal development and provide a platform for them to showcase their talents. One such activity that has gained immense popularity across India is cricket. The TVF plans to organize a Connecting Slums Cricket Tournament across 200 slums of Delhi to provide underprivileged children with a platform to showcase their cricketing skills and instill the values of discipline, teamwork, and dedication among the children. The main objective of the Connecting Slums Cricket Tournament is to provide a platform for underprivileged children to showcase their cricketing skills and encourage them to pursue higher education. The tournament aims to connect with more than 200 slums of Delhi and provide the children with an opportunity to engage in a healthy competitive environment. The tournament will also help in promoting the importance of education among the children. By encouraging them to go to school and pursue higher education, TVF hope to provide the children with a better future.

The most recent on-the-spot poster making competition was held on Republic Day at RK Puram in New Delhi. Over 1500 students participated in the competition and other presentations. This occasion provided an opportunity for the students to showcase their talents and also increased awareness of social issues in society, encouraging them to find ways to eradicate them. The event began with registration and progressed to the much-awaited Deep Prajwalan. Following this, the students were given an hour and a half to create posters on a range of topics, including Education, Skill Development, Pollution, Save Girl Child, Women Empowerment, and Gender Equality. While the students were actively engaged in creating their posters, the team of volunteers presented a stage play that highlighted the importance of the right to education for every child, regardless of their financial background. In addition to this, the students also performed several other cultural and patriotic dance presentations, contributing to the overall festive environment of the event. Refreshments were provided to all participants, marking a delightful end to the proceedings. This initiative served to encourage contemplation among students regarding these matters, imparting a valuable lifelong lesson.
